A New Chapter in the Journey

The story of the Cultural Museum of African Art continued to take shape in 1998, building on the vision and foundation established in the years before.

Each stage in CMAA’s history represents another part of a larger journey to preserve, understand, and share the artistic and cultural heritage of Africa. As the Museum’s story developed, so did the ideas, experiences, and efforts that would help shape its future.

The importance of this period is part of the broader history of CMAA—a history rooted in the belief that African art and culture deserve to be preserved, studied, presented, and shared with audiences around the world.

1998 represents another chapter in that continuing journey. It is a point in the Museum’s history that connects its earlier beginnings with the developments that would follow in the years ahead.

As we look back at 1998, we recognize it as part of the foundation upon which the Cultural Museum of African Art continued to grow.

The story continues.
